Welcome to Improving Children’s Reviews, one of the specialist modules from our Care Matters course, supporting people’s well-being. This is the blended learning module, with three hours group learning and two hours e-learning, research and assessment. You should already have the date for your group learning. Please contact us if you aren’t sure.
Like all our modules, Improving Children’s Reviews is person-centred and based on research, policy, practice and the expertise of experience. Successful completion of the course and the on-line final assessment leads to the award of a module certificate. Successful completion of five or more modules leads to the Care Matters course certificate.
By the end of the module, you should be able to:
Summarise the purpose and process of a Looked After Child Review
Explain who should attend reviews and what is their role
Evaluate how to enable reviews to be more child centred
Your module is divided into 6 units, including an introduction to our learning centre. As a blended learning module, combining group training with e-learning, only the first two and the last unit are completed on-line. The other units form the content of your training session. Copies of presentations from the session will be available here afterwards.
This module covers the following units:
- Introduction to We Learn We Change Learning Centre
- Introduction to module resources and initial assessment
- Looked After Child (LAC) Reviews and children’s rights
- The Great LAC Review Quiz: law and guidance
- Child-centred reviews: removing barriers and supporting participation
- Learning review and final assessment.
The module handbook contains all the essential information you need, along with reflective questions to help you learn. You need to bring a copy to your group training session.
The module resources page contains links to research, legal documents, websites and books. These are not required reading, they are resources for your reference, to access when you need them.
